In his career as a tax consultant at KPMG, John has deployed the knowledge and skills acquired from both his work at the tax authority and his MBA studies, and has rendered advice to multi-national clients in a wide variety of industries including the manufacturing, trade, and service sectors. John has assisted many MNCs in their restructuring and M&A activities in China. John maintains good working relationship with many tax authorities and has helped many KPMG clients in their discussions and negotiations in respect of various tax matters with the tax authorities. John has been actively involved in the VAT reform Shanghai Pilot Program, helping companies get prepared for the reform. Mr Kenny Chiu Senior Manager, China Desk (Tax), KPMG Kenny joined KPMG China in 2000 and has been specialising in China tax matters for 12 years. Kenny worked in six KPMG offices in China, namely, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Shanghai. He was seconded to KPMG Singapore in May 2012 to provide support on China taxation matters in Singapore. Kenny has extensive experience in advising multinational clients on China taxation, foreign exchange and business matters. His experience includes advice on a number of substantial group restructuring in China, merger and acquisition, pre-IPO listing advisory etc. Being specialised in Consumer, Industrial and Infrastructure Markets, he has assisted a number of multinational clients in their restructuring and business expansion in Southern China. He also advises clients on cross-border transactions and the repatriation of funds from China in a tax efficient manner. In addition, Kenny was involved in several pre-IPO tax review projects. The companies involved are listed in US and Hong Kong Stock Exchanges. Throughout the years in KPMG China, he has been a member of Global Transfer Pricing Service and International Executive Service team, and has participated in several Transfer Pricing investigation cases and personal tax review projects. |
